A Lifelong Reader
By the third grade, Rose Pearson was reading as many as three books a day. She eventually read her way through the available books in her elementary school library and sometimes hid a book inside her desk during class so she could continue reading when she was supposed to be paying attention.
As she grew older, Rose often ‘borrowed’ romance novels from her older sisters and hid them from her mother. She discovered historical romance through the sweeping, dramatic novels of the 1970s – the era affectionately remembered for its ‘bodice-rippers.’ Her own stories would eventually take a much cleaner path, but those larger-than-life romances helped inspire her enduring fascination with history, love, and happily-ever-afters.
From English Literature to Corporate Finance
Rose wrote stories throughout her teens and early twenties, although most were short stories rather than novels. Her lifelong devotion to books eventually led her to earn a degree in English Literature.
Literature, however, did not immediately provide the most practical way to pay the bills, so Rose crossed over to what she jokingly calls ‘the dark side’ and built a career in corporate finance. The work exercised her analytical side, but it never replaced her love of books or storytelling.
Becoming a Published Author
In 2018, Rose Pearson returned to writing in earnest and began publishing her own novels. Since then, she has written and published more than 100 books, creating an extensive collection of clean and sweet Regency romances filled with emotional courtship, family secrets, intelligent heroines, and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.
Rose continues to draw inspiration from Regency customs, the London Season, the elaborate rules of courtship, and the complicated expectations surrounding marriage, reputation, inheritance, and family. Behind the beautiful gowns and glittering ballrooms, she finds endless opportunities to explore characters searching for love, acceptance, security, and the freedom to determine their own futures.
Life Beyond the Books
Rose Pearson lives in North Carolina with her husband and a terrier who barks far more than his size would suggest. She enjoys taking him for walks, partly because she loves them and partly in the hope of eventually tiring him out.
When she is not writing, Rose can often be found reading, researching Regency customs, or imagining new complications for her next hero and heroine.
